Pinal County authorities announce arrest in a 2006 homicide case

FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) -- Pinal County authorities say they've made an arrest in a decade-old homicide case.

County sheriff's officials announced Monday that 30-year-old Marlon Faulkner has been booked into jail on suspicion of first-degree murder.

They say Faulkner was taken into custody while making an unrelated court appearance.

Sheriff's officials say they received an anonymous tip that Faulkner may have been involved in the homicide and that led to the arrest in cold case.

They say the decomposed body of 18-year-old Christopher Martin of Mesa was found on state trust land in Pinal County in July 2006.

Due to the advanced decomposition, it took several weeks to identify the body based on fingerprint analysis.

Autopsy results showed Martin had been shot and died as a result of injuries to his head and chest.
