Police: 2 killed, 3rd person injured in shootings
CHANDLER, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police are investigating after two people were found shot to death, and a third person injured, in shooting scenes in Chandler and Mesa.
Chandler Police officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex near Arizona Avenue and Elliot Road just before 9 p.m. Police say a man was found lying on the ground at the complex, and later died from his injuries.
Just blocks away, Mesa Police found two other shooting victims inside a vehicle near Alma School and Guadalupe. A woman inside the vehicle was pronounced dead on-scene, and a man suffering from a gunshot wound was rushed to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
During their investigation, police identified 23-year-old Taron Watkins as the alleged shooter and he was arrested the following day in Scottsdale.
Watkins was booked into jail faces two counts of second-degree murder, and one count each of attempted murder and prohibited possessor.
