Police identify man who was struck and killed in South Phoenix
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Phoenix Police has identified the man who was struck and killed while walking in South Phoenix Saturday night.
According to a statement released by Sgt. Vince Lewis Sunday morning, Eduardo Catano was trying to cross South 7th Avenue on foot at around 6:00 p.m. Saturday, when he was struck by a car. The incident, according to police, happened just north of the crosswalk at West Broadway Road, while the car was close enough to present a hazard.
Police said Catano, 57, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver remained at the scene, and did not show signs of impairment.
