Police: Teen arrested in central Phoenix homicide, burglary

Authorities say a teenage boy has been arrested in connection with a homicide earlier this month in central Phoenix.

Police say 14-year-old Aaron Chavez has been booked into jail on felony murder, burglary and armed robbery charges.

Phoenix police say officers responded last Wednesday to a report of unknown trouble at a house.

Police say 30-year-old Diego Martinez was fatally shot by Chavez when he arrived home from work and found his home being burglarized.

They say Chavez stole the victim's cellphone and wallet before fleeing the scene and threw the gun into a trash container.

Police say security video and blood on his clothing linked the teen to the case.

FOX 10 went to the home of the suspect Tuesday afternoon, where the suspect's aunt said she's upset, and her nephew has let her down.
