Police: Woman attacked while jogging near elementary school

The Maricopa Police Department says a woman was attacked while jogging and it happened right next to an elementary school.

The woman was jogging near Alterra Parkway and Bowlin Road around 6:00 a.m. on Monday morning. Investigators say the suspect attacked the woman from behind and forced her to the ground. She was able to fight back and the suspect ran off from the scene.

The suspect is described as a teenaged black male, 5' 7" to 5' 9" tall with a medium build and medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt with pink sleeves and a backpack. Officers will be going door to door in the area to see if anyone recognizes the suspect.
