Pulse victim honored at Edgewater HS football game

Cory Connell was one of 49 victims who lost their lives in the Pulse Nightclub massacre. He had attended Orlando's Edgewater High School, and on Friday, the school honored Connell during the halftime of a football game.

"He's with us everyday. He's here with us now," said Cory's father. Wearing a "Cory Strong" shirt, he thanked the community for coming out to pay tribute.

The 21-year old put himself in harms way during the shooting to protect his girlfriend, who survived the tragedy.

"We just have so much love and support. We still have love and support," said Cory's mother. "Yesterday was his birthday."

You could see the support on people's faces, and even on the jerseys of the football players. They wear "CC" patches to honor Cory, who once played on this very field. An Edgewater jersey was even presented to the Connell Family during the game -- his No. 81 was retired.
