Retired Navy jet goes pink for war on breast cancer

A retired U.S. Navy fighter jet sits pretty in pink on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Lexington.

The F9F-8 Cougar saw plenty of action in the 1950s. Now, one is on display aboard the Lexington in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The pink hue is now permanent. Dishwashing detergent was added to the paint before it was applied, so it can be washed away.

The jet will be on display through the end of October. After that, the jet will be restored to its original finish.
