Scottsdale PD: Husband kills family, turns gun on himself possibly due to financial struggles

Scottsdale Police have identified the four people shot and killed in a Scottsdale home Friday afternoon.

According to Sgt. Ben Hoster with Scottsdale Police, Jason Fairbanks, 39, shot and killed his wife, Anne Fairbanks, 39, as well as his 3-year-old daughter and his 9-month-old son. Fairbanks then turned the gun on himself.

Investigators learned the couple was experiencing financial struggles.

When Fairbanks failed to show up to work on Friday, a business associate went to the home and discovered the bodies in one room of the house. The associate immediately called 911.

The incident, according to a tweet made to the department's verified Twitter account, happened in the area of 103rd Place and Sutton.

According to reports by Scottsdale Police, officers responded to the home at approximately 1:25 p.m., and upon entering the home, officers found the people dead. Officials said a gun was used, and the incident appears to be isolated to one home.
