Search for man accused of shooting pregnant ex-girlfriend
PACIFICA, Calf. (KTVU and BCN) - A 25-year-old pregnant woman is recovering after being shot in the back of her head in Pacifica on Wednesday morning.
Both the mom and baby are stable and expected to survive. [It was previously reported that the baby was delivered.]
According to a family member, the woman will be in intensive care until the baby is born.
Ricardo Colindres, 25, a transient, is wanted for the shooting reported at 8:11 a.m. in the 1000 block of Terra Nova Boulevard, where someone heard a gunshot and a victim screaming.
The woman's family member tells KTVU the suspect was an ex-boyfriend who had abused the woman. He is not the father of the baby. She had a restraining order against him, according to the family member.
Officers found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was taken to a hospital.
Colindres, described as a Hispanic man about 5 feet 5 inches tall who weighs 125 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes, was last seen in a 2003 silver Toyota Camry with California license plate number 6CGN644.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or Pacifica police at (650) 738-7314. Community members are cautioned not to approach Colindres since he is considered armed and dangerous, police said.
The shooting prompted the lockdown of three local schools -- Terra Nova High School at 1450 Terra Nova Blvd., Ingrid B. Lacy Middle School at 1427 Palmetto Ave. and Ortega Elementary School at 1283 Terra Nova Blvd. The lockdowns were later lifted.
Additional details on the shooting have not been released.
