Surveillance video shows inmate attacking corrections officer

In a story you will only see on FOX 10, surveillance video shows an inmate attack on an officer inside the Eyman Prison Complex in Florence.

The attack happened in the maximum security unit when the officer puts handcuffs on the inmate and opens the door, but the inmate was able to slip out of the handcuffs and attack the officer.

Eventually, another officer stepped in and stopped the attack.

The Arizona Department of Corrections released the following statement on the attack:

"The video illustrates the danger that inmates pose to our officers and staff every day, especially in a maximum-custody unit. We applaud the officer for his quick response to regain control until additional staff arrived to help re-secure the inmate. The inmate was moved to an enhanced security area and ADC is pursuing aggravated assault charges against him."
