Suspect fires shots at Phx officer during early-morning traffic stop

Phoenix police say suspects fired on an officer and damaged a patrol vehicle early Sunday morning during an attempted traffic stop.

A spokesperson with Phoenix Police says an officer tried to pull over a car traveling at high speeds near 67th Avenue and Minnezona at about 3 a.m. Sunday. They say people inside that vehicle fired several shots at the officer, hitting the patrol car several times.

The officer was not injured, but the incident reportedly caused some damage to the body of the patrol car and windshield. Police say the shots were fired from a white sedan, and they are putting together suspect descriptions.
