At a cabinet meeting in the White House, President Trump was asked about the major pop culture news that Taylor Swift is engaged to Travis Kelce.

Pop icon Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce have made it official: they announced their engagement on Instagram. 

"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," Swift wrote under photos of her and Kelce in front of an elaborate floral arch. 

Here’s what to know about who could be at their star-studded wedding. 

Who could be in the wedding party?

Travis Kelce is extremely close to his equally famous brother, Jason Kelce. The two host a popular weekly podcast together, "New Heights," which Swift appeared on recently to announce her new album. Jason would be a logical first choice for best man, and one of his young daughters could serve as flower girl.

Kelce is also close with his teammate, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes and his wife, Britney, celebrated Kelce and Swift’s engagement on Instagram Tuesday. It wouldn’t surprise many to see Mahomes at the altar when Kelce and Swift tie the knot. 

Swift, meanwhile, has had a best friend since high school, Abigail Anderson Berard, who would likely serve in the wedding party or as maid of honor. Swift is also very close with rapper Ice Spice. They met when they collaborated in May 2023 for a remix of Swift’s song "Karma." Ice Spice, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, has appeared next to Swift at award shows and Kansas City Chiefs games, including the Super Bowl.

Like her fiancé, Swift is also known for her tight-knit relationship with her brother, Austin Swift, who could serve as a groomsman for Kelce. Austin has been spotted with his sister at Chiefs game, and he got Kelce a Christmas gift in 2023 that Kelce bragged about on his podcast, according to Us magazine.  

"He actually made me feel like a child because his gift to me was straight out of the bag … handed me a VHS of my favorite football movie of all time … Little Giants," Kelce said.

Swift’s father, Scott Swift, who has played a key role in managing his daughter’s career and finances, would be expected to walk her down the aisle. 

Mother-of-the bride is Andrea Swift. The Kelce brothers’ mom is Donna Kelce, known affectionately by fans as "Mama Kelce."

Who won’t be at Travis and Taylor’s wedding?

Actors Blake Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, once considered close friends of Swift, likely wouldn’t be on the guest list. Swift was named godmother to Lively and Reynolds’ daughters, but the friends had a falling out due to Lively’s legal battle with her It Ends With Us costar and director Justin Baldoni. Swift’s name was dragged into legal documents and potential subpoenas, and she reportedly hasn’t spoken to Lively in months. 

How did Taylor and Travis meet? 

The backstory:

Swift met Kelce in 2023, after Kelce told a story on his "New Heights" podcast about him trying – and failing – to give Swift his number at one of her Eras Tour concerts. Swift recalled their meet-cute in an interview with Time magazine. 

"This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell," Ms. Swift told Time magazine.. "We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple."

She was first spotted at a Chiefs game on Sept. 24, 2023 and quickly became a regular at Kelce’s games, including attending the AFC Championship with Kelce’s family and celebrating his big win at Super Bowl LVIII.

The pair made their relationship official on Instagram after both Kelce and Swift posted a photo with Prince William, Prince Georgie and Princess Charlotte at Wembley Stadium for her Eras Tour.

The couple continued to pack their schedules with time together, outings and supporting each other’s careers. Kelce even joined his girlfriend on stage during one of her performances in London, England, during her Eras Tour in June 2024.
