Valley company offers mermaid classes

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - For most people who dream of being a mermaid, a dream is all it'll ever be - one company, however, is making it a reality.

Aquamermaid brings dreams to life by teaching their students how to be a mermaid.

Aquamermaid instructor Desiree Reed has been a professional mermaid for almost 5 years.

"Being a professional mermaid allows me to perform as a mermaid for kids and adults for various events around the Valley," said Reed.

Being a mermaid does not have an age limit. For adults, there are mermaid water aerobics focused on strengthening core muscles.

Instructor Karen Hills says she has been able to fulfill her life-long dream.

"This is something I've always wanted to do," said Hills. "You know, I've gotten to live my dream of being a mermaid."

Phoenix is just one of 6 U.S. cities where Aquamermaid has a school. Private classes can be booked and can also be found at the Point Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort.
