Wrong-way driver crash shuts down I-17

A crash involving a wrong-way driver shut down part of Interstate 17 early Thursday morning.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says the crash happened when the wrong-way driver was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-17 at the Carefree Highway.

Both drivers have been transported with minor injuries and DPS believes impairment may be a factor in the crash.

Southbound I-17 has reopened at the Carefree Highway.
