NASCAR fans head to PIR for weekend of racing

NASCAR fans have been waiting all fall for this weekend.

"We love it, we've been doing it for about 10 years," Kaprice Collins said.

The Collins' family camps out in the infield at Phoenix International Raceway from Thursday through Sunday.

"It's just fantastic," Rory Collins said. "It's like a community out here. Everyone is camping from all over the country. You make friends, you have a good time."

This is the second-to-last race of the season.

"This race, we are calling it the Phoenix Four, so each of the series is getting eliminated down to four drivers that are eligible to win the championship next weekend in Homestead, Miami," Greg Fresquez said.

PIR spokesman Greg Fresquez calls them the playoffs and NASCAR K and N Pro Series driver Jesse Iwuji says fans can expect a lot of action during the NASCAR Camping World Series.

"Really, the big thing is there's a lot of tensions out there that are high this weekend," he said. "Drivers may get a little fussy, drivers may get a little hot."
