Danelo Cavalcante: Escaped prisoner now armed

A homeowner fired several times at escaped killer Danelo Cavalcante when he broke into his home and stole a .22 caliber rifle Monday night, officials confirmed as they continue to intensify the manhunt for the now-armed murderer. Cavalcante has eluded capture since Aug. 31, when he acrobatically broke out of the Chester County Prison while awaiting transfer to a different lockup. He had been sentenced to life in prison for fatally stabbing an ex-girlfriend in 2021, allegedly to stop her from telling police that he was wanted in a slaying in his home country of Brazil.

The search Danelo Cavalcante becomes nationwide

Police are expanding their search for convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante. He escaped from a Pennsylvania prison 11 days ago after being convicted in August for killing his ex-girlfriend. Police say he now changed his appearance with new images showing he's now clean-shaven, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and a baseball hat. The manhunt is now described as a nationwide search with law enforcement all across the country on notice, even though police remain confident Cavalcante is still in Pennsylvania.
