Monsoon 101: Dust storm safety

Pull off the road or highway. If possible, turn off your vehicle headlights and set your emergency brake while you take your foot off the brake. Stay in the vehicle with your seat belt buckle. Wait for that storm to pass, but if you can't pull over, leave your lights on and drive slowly.

If you see a dust storm or heavy rain ahead, it's best to exit the roadway and wait for the storm to move through the area. Get to a safe spot as far off the roadway as possible. Take your foot off the brake and turn off your lights.
