According to Phoenix police, the shooting happened near 24th Street and Roosevelt at about 8:45 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found 37-year-old Hector Olivas suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
