Arizona weather forecast: Is rain finally making its way into the Valley?
Phoenix's highest chance for rain this winter season is approaching!
Arizona is accustomed to dry weather, but this 155-day stretch in the Valley has been rough on residents. The last measurable rainfall was in August of last year.
What they're saying:
"Overall the total rainfall and snowfall accumulation Monday - Thursday is not expected to be very high for the lower deserts. These two graphs show the probability of precipitation >0.01" and >0.25" for few locations. You will notice the probability of >0.25" is pretty low," the National Weather Service said on X.
The low in Phoenix on Jan. 26 was 43.
What we can expect:
The rain is expected to start Sunday afternoon/evening, NWS said.
"On/off periods of showers can be expected across the region starting today in southeast CA and early Monday in south-central AZ. Most lower desert locations are looking at rainfall totals up to 0.20" from Mon-Wed. The AZ high terrain will see locally higher amounts," the agency said.
