Bluff Fire: Evacuation orders lifted; residents can return home

Evacuations orders have been lifted for the Bluff Fire in Walker, Arizona. This is the second time in a week that a wildfire has led to evacuation orders in that area.

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office, a mandatory evacuation was ordered for residents located off of Bluff Road, east of Poachers Way in Walker. The area is south of Prescott.

Officials say one structure has been lost in the 2-acre wildfire and it is 25 percent contained. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Red Cross shelter that was set up for evacuees at Yavapai College in Prescott is now closed.

Earlier in the day, sheriff's office officials stated there was significant danger to residents in the area.

Just last Friday, the Viewpoint Fire triggered a major evacuation order for people living just north of Prescott. That fire burned 5,600 acres and destroyed two homes. It's now fully contained, but it's a reminder of just how dry conditions are near Prescott and how quickly one of these fires can spread.
