Sunday showers in the valley

Rainstorms rolled into Phoenix on Sunday morning, keeping temperatures cooler.

Showers and strong winds hit the valley as a storm cell moved in before 8am on Sunday. There were reports of rain from Ahwatukee to Glendale. Most of the moisture moved in from the south. The soggy weather could linger throughout the day: storm chances for the metro Phoenix area are at 30 percent through the afternoon and early evening.

Cooler and drier air is expected to push into the valley overnight. Lows in the valley could reach the upper 50s by Monday morning.

Northern Arizona could have some severe weather, with the possibility of strong winds. A cold front is also coming through southwestern Arizona on Sunday afternoon until the evening hours.
