2 dead in wrong-way freeway crash

Two people are dead following a crash involving a wrong-way driver in Phoenix.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says two people were killed when a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the Loop 101 hit another vehicle head-on and burst into flames at 35th Avenue.

The wrong-way driver and the driver of the other vehicle, a 22-year-old man, were both killed. Investigators also believe impairment may be factor in the crash.

Westbound Loop 101 reopened at Interstate 17 just before 9:30 a.m.
