3 killed in fiery crash on I-30 in East Dallas, traffic delays expected all morning

Part of Interstate 30 is closed in East Dallas because of a fatal crash.

The accident happened around 2:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the interstate near Dolphin Road.

Witnesses said a car was going over 100 miles per hour. It clipped an 18-wheeler, causing it to crash and burn. The truck also lost control, hit a barricade and rolled over.

All three people in the car died after being trapped in the flames. The truck driver and his passenger were shaken up but not injured.

I-30 is expected to be shut down most of the morning for cleanup and an investigation.

A Dallas Fire-Rescue hazardous materials team was called in to clean up diesel that spilled from the overturned truck. Texas Department of Transportation road crews are also evaluating the damage to the roadway and guardrails.
