Caregiver accused of death of Glendale woman, unborn child
A Glendale man is facing a double murder charge, as he is accused of killing his quadriplegic girlfriend, and her unborn son.
According to investigators, the suspect, identified as 28-year-old Andrews Reyes, did nothing as Bridget Charlebois, then 22, suffered and died in 2014.
Charlebois' family is heartbroken, after learning that her last years were allegedly filled with abuse and neglect.
"She never complained ever about being in that chair," said Bridget Charlebois' mother, Paula Charlebois. Paula and her husband adopted Bridget when she was eight years old. Bridget was quadriplegic, as she suffered from Shaken Baby Syndrome.
At 21. Bridget moved out of her parent's house, fired her caretakers, and lived with Reyes, who became her caretaker.
"To know that violence brought her into our home, and 15 years later to have violence take her away, it doesn't seem fair," said Paula. "She took a hit when she was baby that should've wiped her out. She wasn't even supposed to live."
According to cold case investigators with Maricopa County, Reyes allegedly abused Bridget by shooting her several times with a BB Gun. Reyes also allegedly left Bridget for hours without food and water, and in a dirty diaper.
Eventually, investigators said Bridget began suffering from a medical incident, and Reyes reportedly did not call 911, or offered help. It wasn't until after her autopsy did Bridget's family found out she was nine months pregnant with a healthy baby boy at the time of her death.
Three years after Bridget's death, detectives finally felt they had enough evidence to arrest Reyes for two counts of alleged murder, and one count of alleged abuse.
