Cycling community honors late Gilbert mother with memorial bike ride

Members of the Jetset Racing team ride with a purpose this morning as they gathered with a special purpose.

"Every morning when I get up and ride, like I usually drop to a knee and I actually say a little prayer," Ben Dodge said.

The prayers were whispered before dawn, before helmets were strapped on and were for Jenna Taylor and her family. The 33-year-old mother of four was killed early Wednesday morning while cycling. She was struck by a truck in the intersection of Val Vista and Ray Roads in Gilbert.

Police have not said if charges will be filed.

"Jenna is one of those people that is willing to do anything for anybody," Robert Paulson said.

The group deviated from its usual route this morning, taking off from McDowell and Higley and rode to Jenna's home that she shared with her husband and young children near Lindsay and Warblers Roads.

"Life is short and love is fragile, love everyone you're around, love everybody you're with, don't take anything for granted," said Cam Taylor, Jenna's husband. "Thank you, thank you so much."

Jenna's husband was overwhelmed and emotional by the incredible show of support.

On the last leg of the honor ride's journey was a short ride to the intersection where the accident took place, where Jenna's son placed flowers.

"These accidents continue to happen and ride of honors will continue to happen," one cyclist said.

According to Gilbert police, Jenna Taylor was riding in the bike lane and had a green light. The cyclists we spoke to today say if anything good comes from this tragedy, it's to remind people to be aware.

"This could have been any of us," Dodge said. "This is what's scary. This could have been my family's loss."

The cycling community says the loss is too great to ever forget and that Jenna will forever ride with them.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for Jenna's family. If you would like to donate, click here.

So far, over $30,000 has been raised for the Taylor family.
