Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies investigating two incidents in the same area

The sheriff's office is investigating a crash with serious injuries as well as a death investigation.

MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. - There was a large deputy presence in a Maricopa County neighborhood on the night of Saturday, Jan. 2 after two incidents happened in the same area.

A serious car crash happened in the area of Calle Sonora and Avenida del Yaqui. Not too far away, deputies were investigating a death.

Details about the car crash are unknown.

Regarding the death investigation, the sheriff's office released details on Jan. 5., saying deputies responded to a report of a man who was stabbed.

The victim was found on the sidewalk with stab wounds and was declared dead at the scene.

Isaiah Lapre, 22, was found nearby and was arrested on suspicion of killing the unidentified suspect as he reportedly had evidence directly connected to the crime, the sheriff's office said.

He was booked into jail on suspicion of first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
