Nearly 75,000 Dodge Durangos recalled over problems with rear spoiler

Chrysler recalled 74,578 Dodge Durangos because of a rear spoiler issue that may increase the risk of a crash.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration officials stated in a recall letter that rear spoilers which detach from a vehicle may create road debris, and drivers may also hear the "spoiler hit the body when opening or closing the liftgate, or a rattle from the spoiler being loose while driving."

The recall covers certain 2021-2023 MY Dodge Durango vehicles.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recall notice, Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) discovered that certain Dodge Durango vehicle models "were built with rear spoilers that may be over-flush to the roof, allowing contact to the roof when cycling the liftgate."

NHTSA officials noted that a remedy is "under development" and owners of the impacted Dodge Durangos should wait to receive a notification letter from Chrysler (FCA US, LLC).
The auto manufacturer is in the process of informing dealers and will begin to notify affected vehicle owners on or about Sept. 9.
