Father fatally ran over son in Brandon Waffle House parking lot, deputies say

BRANDON, Fla. (FOX 13) - A toddler was struck and killed by parent's vehicle in a Brandon parking lot, deputies said.

The accident occurred Tuesday night at the Waffle House at 1412 State Road 60 in Brandon, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Investigators said the mother and father believed the other had place their 3-year-old son inside their 2007 Chevy Tahoe, but neither one did.

Officials said the vehicle's right front tire hit the child, resulting in severe head injuries. His father transported him to Brandon Hospital, where he passed away.

The sheriff's office said neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the crash.
