Man dies, suspect arrested after early-morning stabbing
PHOENIX (AP) -- A 31-year-old Gilbert man has been arrested in a fatal stabbing of another man during a fight in a Phoenix apartment.
Police say Maurice Lashun Austin was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of second-degree murder in the killing that morning of Jamal Towson.
According to police, Towson was stabbed after he arrived at the apartment, demanded that Austin return possessions of Towson and then fought with Austin.
Austin remained in jail Thursday. He didn't have an attorney when he made an initial court appearance.
The apartment where Towson was killed is located near 23rd Avenue and Camelback Road.
