Recalled Rex110 Youth ATV – Black

A nationwide recall for some brands of youth all-terrain vehicles was announced after the death of a child has raised some safety concerns about a risk of serious injury or death.

The recall was announced for 4,900 units of Lil Pick Up Inc.’s Rex110 and Sierra110 Youth All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice, the ATVs did follow mandatory requirements for ATV safety standards.

What we know:

CPSC received the report of a 6-year-old boy that died from a crash involving a Rex110 ATV last year. The ATVs were designed and intended to be used by just one person.

The issues associated with the recall are that the ATVs do not meet the maximum speed limitations for ATVs for children 6 and older, the mechanical suspension does not comply with safety requirements, and that the throttle could get stuck. The CPSC says all of those issues mentioned can pose a crash risk, which could lead to serious injury or death.

A separate problem with the footwell surface of the ATVs reaching high temperatures was also identified as a burn risk.

Dig deeper:

Two models recalled, the "Rex110" and "Sierra110" of the ATVs, were sold under multiple brand names. The names of the models are located on the VIN plate. If the brand is printed on the ATV, it is found on the side body or the handlebar cover. The listed brand names associated with them are "Seangles", "Mototec", "Offroad Mall" or "Extreme". They came in several different colors; black, blue, silver, green, orange, pink, burgundy, spider black, spider blue, spider red, green camo, purple camo and pink camo.

What's next:

Lil Pick Up is offering a full refund for customers. They are asking people to immediately stop using the ATVs and contact them on their website to receive instructions on how to return the ATVs.
