Following a months-long investigation by the San Diego County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), nine U.S. Navy sailors and another suspect have been arrested in connection with a violent assault last year.

The backstory:

The San Diego County Sheriff's Office said on May 3, 2025, deputies responded to the report of an assault at a house party at a home in the Jamul area of San Diego County.  The Sheriff’s Office says as deputies responded they learned that the suspects were carrying firearms and a victim was at a nearby fire station seeking medical assistance.

When deputies arrived at the fire station, the sheriff’s office said deputies found the victim bleeding heavily from their head and face and the victim told them they were assaulted by several individuals  and pistol whipped with a gun.  The victim was transported to a hospital with major injuries.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Office says as they investigated the incident, they learned that nine of the 10 suspects were enlisted in the U.S. Navy and many of the suspects were associated with criminal street gangs.  The Sheriff's Office detectives contacted NCIS and a joint investigation was initiated.
