Phoenix sausage purveyor voluntarily recalls some meats

PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix-based meat purveyor is voluntarily recalling more than two dozen of its products because of listeria concerns.

The Arizona Department of Agriculture said Friday that Schreiner's Sausage Company is recalling 28 ready-to-eat meats that were sold before Dec. 1.

The department says the recall stems from concerns about practices at the company aimed at preventing the spread of listeria bacteria.

Meat processors are required to show proof of sanitary practices to state inspectors.

Officials say based on current information, some of Schreiner's products are being considered contaminated.

The recalled items include varieties of sausage, bologna, cooked salami and smoked boneless pork shoulder.

Officials say the items are marked with "EST 24," an establishment number.
