Pima County jail inmate who escaped last weekend is captured

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Pima County authorities say a jail inmate who walked away from a work crew last weekend has been captured in midtown Tucson.

County Sheriff's officials say a tip lead to the arrest of 22-year-old Sarah Herrera on Tuesday and she was taken into custody without incident.

Herrera was serving an 18-day sentence for misdemeanor trespassing and shoplifting.

She walked away from a work crew at the Pima Animal Care Center around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

Sheriff's officials say Herrera now could face more serious charges because an escape is a felony.
