Police: 4-year-old boy struck, killed in valley neighborhood
PHOENIX (KSAZ) - A child was struck and killed by a car after running after an ice cream truck into the street on Wednesday night.
Phoenix police say the accident happened in a neighborhood near 15th Avenue and Broadway. The 4-year-old boy was at a relative's house when he heard the ice cream truck and ran across the street. When he darted into the road, a red pickup truck struck the boy.
The driver of the truck stayed at the scene after the accident and cooperated with the investigation. Police do not believe she was impaired or driving recklessly.
At this time, no charges have been filed, but the investigation is ongoing.
