Police: Suspect accused of killing ex-girlfriend arrested at Sky Harbor
PHOENIX (AP/KSAZ) -- Police say a woman found dead in a south Phoenix home was the victim of a homicide, and her ex-boyfriend has been arrested for the crime.
Phoenix police spokesman Trent Crump says officers were called around 5 p.m. Friday after someone found a woman dead inside a home near 14th Street and Roeser Road. Crump says she was shot multiple times. Police say the victim as a woman in her 20s who was found dead by her roommate. Police say shell casings and a handgun were found in the home.
Crump says the victim's ex-boyfriend, 26-year-old Igor Zubko, who is a Russian national, has been arrested in her death. Zubko was apprehended at Sky Harbor airport trying to fly to San Francisco on Friday evening. He was in violation of an order of protection the victim had served prior to the murder. Zubko is at the Maricopa County Jail on charges of first degree murder and kidnapping.
