Scottsdale armed barricade incident ends with woman seriously injured

A woman has suffered life-threatening injuries, following a barricade situation in Scottsdale Friday afternoon.

According to a tweet made by Scottsdale Police's verified Twitter page, the incident took place at a home. Later statements show the home was located on the 8300 block of N. 85th Street.

According to a later tweet made by the same account, a female suspect has been taken to the hospital.

According to a statement, two construction workers were working on the home when the female suspect, identified as a 29-year-old, entered the home, produced a handgun, and forced the construction workers out of the house.

Officers who responded to the scene, according to the statement, attempted to establish communication with the woman, but with no success. The SWAT team responded, and later found the suspect unconscious from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The suspect reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries, and officials said the suspect is known to be a family friend of the home owners.

The owners were reportedly not home at the time of the incident.
