Sprouts prepares to open new store near Loop 202 expansion in Laveen
PHOENIX - A brand new grocery store is opening in Laveen on Wednesday.
Sprouts Farmers Market is the first to move in to a new shopping center near the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway expansion, and many living in the area are excited about the new option, as well as all of the other construction going on.
"There is not a lot of things to do on this side of town, so it will be cool," said one woman.
Besides the new grocery store, a new Harkins movie theater will be going in at Laveen Park Place, off of 59th Avenue. In addition, there will be a new TJ Maxx, as well as new restaurants.
"We know a lot of businesses are looking at this area," said Kalia Pang, a spokesperson for Sprouts Farmers Market. "There is growing residential with the expanded access in the West Valley. Here, we are bringing access to healthy food and healthy groceries to the growing area."
With it, they are bringing in more jobs. Sprouts has employed about 140 people in the area.
"I am looking for new influx of businesses, and people of all ethnicities moving into the area and looking for development in their neighborhood," said Aswad Fudail, who lives in the area.
On top of that, the new development is right next to the Loop 202 expansion, which is one more thing residents can look forward to.
"It will be really nice once it is finally open," said the woman.
Sprouts will open at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, and the first 200 customers will get 20% off of their grocery bill.
