State solicits comments on proposed new east-west freeway
PHOENIX (AP) - State transportation officials are soliciting public comment on possible routes for a new freeway that could be built in the southwestern corner of the Phoenix area.
There are four potential east-west alignments for the proposed State Route 30. All of the alignments would run between Perryville Road on the west and 59th Avenue on the east. All would be south of Lower Buckeye Road and north of the Gila and Salt rivers.
The Department of Transportation says there's also an option to not build the route, which formerly was known as State Route 801.
The new freeway would be intended to provide some relief to Interstate 10 and be built after 2026 if and when funding is available.
The department says it'll accept comments through Friday.
