Suspect in custody after deadly stabbing in west Phoenix
PHOENIX - Phoenix Police say a suspect is in custody after two people were stabbed; one of the victims did not survive his injuries.
Officers say the suspect, 21-year-old Cesar Avila, got into a fight with two individuals at an apartment complex near 71st Avenue and Indian School Road just before 3am on Friday, July 27th. During the fight, police say the suspect stabbed the two victims and went into his apartment.
A man identified as 25-year-old Karsten Boman died from his injuries in the stabbing. A second man, 27 years old, was hurt but he is expected to survive.
Avila refused to come out of his apartment when officers told him to do so. A Special Assignments Unit was called out and Avla was taken into custody. Police say he admitted to involvement in the stabbing. He has been booked and charged with second degree murder.
