Suspects in custody following string of armed robberies in Phoenix

A chaotic scene unfolded during an early morning series of armed robberies Sunday. The rampage left one woman recovering from a gunshot wound, and now, three suspects are in police custody.

According to police, at around 4:00 a.m., officers responded to several calls regarding a group of three suspects attempting to rob convenience stores in the area of 27th Avenue. from Dunlap to Missouri. The suspects allegedly displayed handguns while trying to enter the stores, but when they realized the doors were locked, they fled.

At a convenience store in the area of Glendale and 19th Avenue, the suspects entered and allegedly carried out an armed robbery. There, according to police, one of the male suspects physically assaulted the store clerk, and shot the clerk's female friend.

The incidents reportedly came to an end at 27th Avenue and Dunlap, where the armed suspects allegedly tried to enter a locked store, even pointing the gun at the clerk inside of the store. Police said when they arrived, they were able to capture the suspects, as they tried to flee the scene.

The suspects' names have not been released.
