FOX News Channel 'parting ways' with Tucker Carlson
FOX News Channel announced that it has agreed to part ways with Tucker Carlson, its popular primetime show host of "Tucker Carlson Tonight," in a statement on April 24, 2023.
Longtime conservative commentator and former FOX News host Tucker Carlson said that he is no longer supporting the Republican Party, dismissing the political affiliation he’s defended for decades.
Tucker Carlson no longer supporting Republican party
What they're saying:
"I would not support the Republican party; there’s no chance I would support the Republican party," Carlson said on the "Can't Be Censored" podcast. "Not going to support the Democratic party. I don't know what I'm going to do."
He continued: "How could I or any American voter support a political party that’s not loyal to the United States, that puts the interest of a foreign country above those of its own citizens?"

"I voted Republican my entire life," he added, noting that he’s been a consistent defender of the GOP. "But there’s no defending this, because it’s immoral and it’s exactly the opposite of what a political party and a democracy is charged with doing, which is representing its own voters, its own citizens, its own nation, and they’re not doing that. So, no, I’m out.
He added, "And if I’m out, then I think a lot of other people are out."
Comments come ahead of November midterms
The backstory:
These comments come ahead of the November midterm elections.
Carlson, who has amassed a large following on his own podcast since being fired from Fox News in 2023, has more recently diverged from the party.
After the war began, he apologized for supporting the then-presidential candidate Donald Trump and "misleading people," saying it wasn't intentional.

He's repeatedly criticized the war as being at the behest of Israel at the expense of Americans, and attacked the party for failing to represent its own voters, citizens and nation.
"They are making decisions on the basis of other criteria, what’s best for this company, what’s best for Israel, what’s best for our donors," he said. "That’s not just, like, they are off in the wrong direction, like, that is unacceptable, that’s treasonous, it’s immoral, it can’t continue."
