University of Wisconsin-Stout student from Saudi Arabia dies from violent assault

A University of Wisconsin-Stout international student from Saudi Arabia died Monday from injuries he suffered during a violent assault in Menomonie, Wisconsin, over the weekend.

The assault took place on the 400 block of Main Street East in downtown Menomonie near Topper's Pizza. When officers arrived, they found 24-year-old Hussain Saeed Alnahdi unconscious and bleeding from his mouth and nose.

Alnahdi had been a student at UW-Stout since 2015, according to a university statement. He was a junior majoring in business administration.

"Our deepest sympathies, thoughts and prayers go out to Hussain's family in Buraydah, Saudi Arabia and his friends at UW-Stout," UW-Stout Chancellor Bob Meyer said in a statement.

Meyer and police are asking anyone on campus in the community with information that would help locate the Alnahdi's attacker to come forward.

A vigil for Hussain will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday on campus.

Anyone with information should call the Menomonie police at 715-231-8511 or anonymous information can be submitted at 855-847-3866 or you can send a tip by texting "TIPDUNN" followed by your message to 274637 (CRIMES).
