Unsealed court documents released in the Phoenix Serial Street Shooting case

PHOENIX (KSAZ) - Court documents unsealed by a judge are now giving people across the Valley a better about the evidence that led to the arrest of Aaron Saucedo in the Serial Street Shootings.

Saucedo, 23, was identified as the suspect in the shootings by authorities on May 8, and police say he is behind 12 shootings that killed nine people in 2016.

According to the documents, ballistics and tips from witnesses led police to Saucedo. The last shooting linked to the Serial Street Shooting suspect took place on July 11, 2016, and less than a month after that, police got their first tips that Saucedo resembled the composite sketch, and drove a black BMW that was tied to the shootings on August 7.

A second tip came in on August 31, 2016, when witnesses said Saucedo stopped driving the car, and began to grow facial hair.

In December, Police made their first contact with Saucedo, when he told police he had driven a black BMW and owned a 9mm handgun that was purchased from a pawn shop, but that it has been stolen.

In April, Police arrested Saucedo on a murder charge, and impounded the BMW. Inside that car, investigators found a bullet casing that was consistent with casings fired during a majority of the street shooting incidents.

According to court documents, police believe Saucedo also used a second gun and a second car, identified as a Hyundai Sonata, in at least one of the shooting incidents. Over a year after the shootings took place, police searched the Sonata and found 13 bullet casings that investigators say are linked to the incidents.
