WATCH: Alabama kidnapping victim escapes trunk

A kidnapping victim escaped by popping open a car trunk and jumping out, said deputies in Alabama.

On Monday, Timothy Wyatt, 36, entered the victim's home around 2:30 a.m. and began choking her, according to Autauga County deputies. When she woke up, he demanded money.

Deputies said he then tied her hands behind her back and forced her into an blue four-door Ford Taurus. While driving, he continued to threaten to stab her. He stopped in a remote area, and forced her into the trunk of the vehicle.

After, he drove to a service station in the 2100 block of 7th Street South in Clanton, Alabama, according to the agency. When he exited the vehicle, the victim was able to exit the trunk and find help.

Her escape was captured on the gas station's surveillance camera. She is seen running from the car, while Wyatt was inside the convenience store. After her escape, he ran out of the convenience store and drove away from the gas station.

Warrants were issued for his arrest. By Wednesday morning, Chilton County deputies found Wyatt sleeping inside a building and he was arrested and charged with robbery, kidnapping and domestic violence.
