Woman allegedly doused with gasoline, set on fire while trying to break up fight in DC, police say

Police are trying to piece together details after an altercation that allegedly involved a woman being doused with gasoline and set on fire while trying to break up fight in Southeast, D.C.

The incident was reported on Sunday around 6 p.m. near Minnesota Avenue and Nannie Hellen Burroughs Avenue.

Police investigated and found that the alleged incident happened in the 200 block of 37th Street, Southeast. The fight reportedly was between two groups which included minors. Police are still trying to determine exactly how many people were involved.

FOX 5 has learned that the woman allegedly set on fire survived the incident and is in stable condition Monday morning. It is also believed that the victim knew the suspect and others involved in the fight knew each other as well.

Police have not yet identified who the suspect is and no arrests have been made.

Officers say this is an active investigation.
