Woman killed after commercial truck hits bicyclists

GILBERT, Ariz. (KSAZ) - Police say a woman is dead after a commercial truck hit two bicyclists in Gilbert.

The Gilbert Police Department says the deadly collision happened on Wednesday morning when the two women and the truck were heading eastbound on Ray Road and the truck turned south onto Val Vista.

As the truck turned, it trapped one of the women underneath the truck in the intersection. The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. The other bicyclist was not injured.

Police do not believe impairment was a factor in the crash.

The intersection was reopened at around noon.
