YouTube TV subscribers are receiving $20 credits due to its ongoing contract dispute with Disney.

The backstory:

Last month, Disney-owned channels such as ESPN and ABC were pulled from YouTube TV because the companies couldn’t strike a new contractual agreement.

YouTube is the largest internet TV provider in the U.S. with more than 9 million subscribers. Hulu, owned by Disney, is next, with about half that many subscribers.

$20 redeemable credit sent via email

Dig deeper:

When Disney-owned channels went dark on Oct. 30, YouTube TV said it would offer subscribers a $20 credit if those channels remained unavailable "for an extended period of time."

On Nov. 9, YouTube TV shared that it would be sending emails to family managers of accounts with instructions on how to redeem their $20 credit.

How to redeem the $20 credit

What you can do:

  • Step 1: Go to tv.youtube.com on your web browser and sign in.
  • Step 2: Select your profile picture in the top right corner.
  • Step 3: Select "settings."
  • Step 4: On the left menu, select "updates."
  • Step 5: An option should pop up that says "Disney Content" and below that you should be able to click a button that says "claim credit."
  • The credit should be applied towards your next bill.
