Phoenix Suns relieve Ryan McDonough as general manager

PHOENIX, Ariz. (KSAZ) - The Phoenix suns have relieved Ryan McDonough of his role as general manager. The announcement, which is effective immediately, came Monday morning.

Suns Managing Partner Robert Sarver said in a statement, "After much thought and a long evaluation of our basketball operations, I have decided to relieve Ryan McDonough of his duties as general manager. Over the course of the season, we will explore both internal and external options as we look to restructure our basketball front office leadership."

Team officials say Vice President of Basketball Operations James Jones and Assistant General Manager Trevor Bukstein will handle general manager duties for the interim.

The team's focus right now is to prepare for the upcoming NBA season.
