In an effort to lower gas prices ahead of the busy summer travel season, the Biden administration announced the release of 1 million barrels of gasoline from a Northeast reserve established after Superstorm Sandy.

Tempe may lower speed limits on these roads

The city of Tempe wants to hear from residents as city leaders consider lowering speed limits. The city is hosting a public meeting on Wednesday night. The proposal would lower speed limits by five to ten miles an hour on four major roads. Those roads are Mill Avenue, College Avenue, Southern Avenue and First Street.

Barge crashes into Texas bridge

One lane of the Pelican Island Bridge is now open after a barge struck it on Wednesday morning. The bridge connects Pelican Island to Galveston, and Pelican Island is currently inaccessible by vehicle. Galveston County Judge Mark Henry says the people stranded on the island will be removed by boat.

Baltimore Key Bridge: Explosive demolition complete

On Monday evening, demolition teams carried out a planned explosion to dismantle the biggest steel section left of Baltimore's fallen Francis Scott Key Bridge. When the charges were set off, bright orange flashes and plumes of dark smoke erupted, leading to the swift collapse of the steel segment into the water below. The most extensive truss sections fell, avoiding the stranded Dali cargo vessel, and slipped away from its front end.

Satisfying footage of Arizona rock blasting

ADOT shared oddly satisfying footage of rock blasting on I-17 in north Phoenix. It was completed on a 23-mile stretch and a total of 62 rock blasts were done. The blasts took place at seven locations. ADOT says 177,000 cubic yards of rock and other materials were removed. The purpose of the project is to make room for additional lanes.
