While Mark Anderson has been an educator for 31 years, he spent more than two decades of his career as principal at Highland Lakes. Police say an intoxicated man who was refused service at the bar near 95th and Peoria Avenues grabbed a gun and fired shots into the business. The suspect was killed during a shootout with armed bystanders who were in the parking lot.

A young Phoenix man, said to be a member of a criminal group called the Kia Hyundai Boyz, is under arrest. Police took 18-year-old Jashwa Hicks into custody on Friday in Scottsdale where they say he was seen getting out of a stolen car.
